About ECA-FOARL
Emil Carlsen Archive Free Online Art Research Library [ECA-FOARL] contains digital copies of our physical holdings, including: exhibition catalogs, auction catalogs, books, exhibition cards, and more, on the subject of art and design. The collection’s focus is primarily Realism, Contemporary Realism, Historic Realism and Classical Realism painting, artists and technique. Books containing or related to artist Emil Carlsen take precedence in their digitization.
Access
ECA-FOARL can be accessed by approved researchers 24/7. If you are interested in access for a project or institution please fill out this form. Review of submits occur usually within 24 hours and often sooner. Once you are granted access you may view and download any work within our holdings online for free, including materials currently under copyright. There is no limit to the books you view, download and read.
Copyright
Each work is available in their entirety digitally online based on a court ruling in 2015 allowing the library to save a digital copy of each work in our collection. The works are downloadable to the researcher. The works MAY NOT BE USED for any commercial purpose or resale. Any library patron found re-distributing works for commercial gain may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of their local law and their credentials for our library will be REVOKED.
Images contained within each work may be protected by copyright, trademark, or related interests not governed by the Emil Carlsen Archives. Permission will be granted only to the extent of our ownership of the rights relating to your particular interest. The responsibility for ascertaining whether any additional rights exist, and for obtaining all necessary permissions, remains with the researcher.
Accessibility
Each work has been run through an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program. The .pdf format documents can be read by the blind using their talking browser function.

ECA is a small organization and does its best answer any research support questions in a timely manner.
