“Mrs. Arnold Wood
Mrs. Ethel Harshorne Wood, widow of Arnold Wood, publisher and philanthropist, died yesterday in the Fifth Avenue Nursing Home, 16 East Eighty-ninth Street. Her age was 86. She formerly lived at 1088 Park Avenue and had a summer home for many years at Northeast Harbor, Me.
Mrs. Wood’s husband, who died in 1942, was president of Flower Hospital, now part of the Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals, and of the William Wood & Co. publishing house. She was a daughter of the the late James Mott Hartshorne, a former governor of the New York Stock Exchange.
A son, Arnold Wood Jr., and a daughter Mrs. Louis Wood LaValle survive.”
