Description of work:

“One of the still lifes has for its subject a book, on the flyleaf of which the words ‘L’Avare, comedie en une actre’ can be read. In the right foreground is a little Japanese idol with a huge cranium, while scattered in front of the figure and across the picture is some jewelry. The whole canvas is only about 9×12, and is a humorous, pretty bit of work, with blue as the prevailing tint.”
