“Falls Village, Conn.
Oct 28th. 1921-.
Mrs. Louise Maynard.
Registrar, N. A. D. [National Academy of Design]
My Dear Mrs. Maynard.
Thanks you very very much for your letter and for the appreciation of my picture.
The canvas is not for sale and belongs to Mrs. Carlsen. The $3000 is simply the insurance value.
We are sorry we were unable to go to Washington, having yesterday returned to here from Maine, where we were working at the time.
Sincerely
Emil Carlsen.”
