ECA notes:
– Condition: Some mat burn from original mat. Verso discolored. Appears to have had wooden board backing (seen on works from this time period) at some point. 1/2″ tear on right edge.  Deckle edge along left and lower edges. Those edges also appear to have pin, or small nail, holes. Some light foxing on recto.
– We believe the sitter to be Carlsen’s future wife Luella May (Ruby) Carlsen [ca.1849-before 1966].  Carlsen met his Luella in about 1894.
