By courtesy of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
This artist was born at Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1853, but came to the United States when nineteen years old, and settled in New York City. He was chiefly self-taught. Paints marines and still-life. The original of the above picture is an oil-painting, four feet ten inches wide by four feet deep, showing blue white-capped waves under a wide expanse of cloudy sky.”
