…”Emil Carlsen, Wood Interior. Springtime most artistically rendered. The solemn trunks of the trees lose themselves in the tender verdure of the woods. A pool, in which the trees are reflected, is in the extreme foreground, with large moss-covered boulders on the banks. The haze and mist of early spring lends mystery to the glade. One can almost hear the song of birds and the hum of insects. An admirable piece of work, on which Mr. Carlsen is to be warmly congratulated, as also on his smaller canvas—a little wood interior.”…
